I think the reason we haven't figured out the rest is because those problems are harder to see in the first place. Nobody booting up Anki thinks to themselves, "I probably need help understanding why I want to memorize these things in the first place." If we knew why people try to memorize things they don't actually care about, we might be able to build a solution into the box.
